The kids were chummy. Moms were happy. Jamie wasn't stressed.
I had a hell of a lot of pizza tonight and my body feels like shit now.
Loads of stuff on my brain, so I am going to go read more of La Alquimista and watch some Ugly Betty.
Oh, and Happy End of NaBloPoMo 2007!!! See you next year!!!!

I'm Glad That's Done
First of all, I am CPR/AED certified for adults, children and infants. Second, that was the longest class ever. The instructor was really sweet. And French. And old. The 4 hour class went 4 hours and 45 minutes. She repeated a whole section twice. It was A LOT of fun doing CPR on the manikins, and it was loads of fun listening to the AED tell me what to do. Somehow, I thought it would be more advanced than the class I took in high school, since I paid $70 to get a card that states that I can save lives. Heh heh. I was wrong.
I will probably start volunteering at the nursing home in the next two weeks. Gotta get a TB test first. Wee. Thank goodness I know a good nurse.

Overflowing
My house is overflowing with roommates again. I'm ready for Dave to take his lovely new Filipino bride and go find a house. Like he said he would.
I would love to go get groceries... but wait! Can't. Because someone's lovely bride wants to make him breakfast lunch and dinner and keeps the fridge full of fresh food! Which is just so great! Except when there are 4 other people who are sharing the fridge.
I would love to have a week where I am not frozen in the middle of my shower. Because learning to listen for the other shower running is too much.
Enough bitching.
Today was actually a really good day and I am just cranky about the overflowing love in my house. Oh well.
Hey guess what I do tomorrow? CPR! WOOOO!

And Tuesday will be boring too. And tomorrow. I forgot about tomorrow. My 1/2 price burger pals will be in NY tomorrow! Sigh.
At least I have cpr class to look forward to. And my MAD LIFE SAVING SKILLZ.

More Ramblings
Not a terribly busy day at work. And that's ok. I did get to spend an hour or so bullshitting with 2 of my favorite women. I'm so fortunate to have so many people that I love in my life.
I don't have anything to do tomorrow. Other than running my ass off. Because it is really time that I got serious about that whole 30 thing. It's so weird to have time to just lay around. I don't like it one bit.

Perfect Night
What a beautiful night. The stars and moon looked perfect. The night was cold (30 degrees... brrr). It was just lovely with my warm peacoat and my bag of junk. I wish I could stay out there all night and look for shooting stars.
I did finish most of my holiday shopping. Between online buying from 10am-6pm and my big spending at the overpriced paper store, I feel as though I got a LOT done. Yay.
Time to get ready for bed. I have an early day tomorrow. And I anticipate getting my ass kicked.

Happy Turkey Day!
Hope your day was lovely.
I was sick. Woo. Mom made an excellent dinner, as always. No football games for me.
Tomorrow is the big shopping day for most of us. Most of you guys. I will be shopping online. And having everything done by the second week of December. I've promised myself.

Hours and Hours
Today was cleaning day. It went well. Except....
Me:
I had to try on EVERYTHING. Even though I knew that none of those clothes would make it back into the rotation. Well, 2 1/2 things did. But they are awaiting approval on Friday after I am bloated.
I don't know if there's anything I love more than clean sheets and towels right now.
I glanced at notebooks today. And turned my head away from the pretty yellow dell. I have bigger fish to fry. Like my huge school bill. And Xmas. And travel. You know, cause I like running away from the country now and again.
I do have to go bra shopping soon. I think I have 2 bras that work for me right now and one doesn't count because I fall out when I bend over. Great for dates, not so good for crawling on the floor with kiddies.
I shall be at my parents' house tomorrow for dinner. I was worried that I would go and have to yell at my lazy brother, but he is stealing the child off to his gf's parents' house. I'm sad. No Eddie for me.
Geo and Hippie are having a football game in the morning. I will run around like a fool for a couple hours, drive a couple hours, eat a couple hours, drive a couple hours more and probably finish out my Turkey Day drinking a couple hours (as well as eating their leftovers too). But only as much delicious food and drink as I can remember to add to my tally. I'm at 9 lbs!
Me:
"Stop! Put that back in the closet! That is going to Goodwill , Young Lady!! That may fit, but it's still ugly! No! No! Back!"

Taking Care
One of my best good friends lost her Grandmother over the weekend. Last week, I had been thinking of my own Grandmom. Mostly, I have sad dreams- where I'll see her and touch her and hold her hand and wake up sobbing because even in the dream, I know it's not real. Sometimes I go weeks without thinking of her and how much I miss her. This week, knowing that my friend is going through the same thing, I'm thinking of her constantly.
It's been a rough couple weeks in general. I have to shell out $2K for classes I've already taken, because I am too chicken to leave my safe, comfortable spot and be the bad person that leaves her commitments. I've been feeling taken advantage of by the restaurant, by people I adore and would do anything for... which is part of my problem. If I keep saying yes, why should they stop asking?
I think my general mood reflects the oncoming winter: the dark evenings when the sun leaves too soon and the cold mornings when I just don't want to face the day. How much easier would it be just to lay in bed under my kazillion covers and ignore the world in my dehydrated euphoria? Super easy.
And then I get to spend a little time with a certain monster (all 8 of them, actually) who makes me laugh and forget how sad I was feeling before. Maybe that's why I take care of children- Because I am really just taking care of myself.

Chatter
Today I went back to F&F to bag bagels and tear apart rosemary. The smell of rosemary, by the way, is lovely and soothing. Having to work with two talky office ladies was not so fun. Gossip gossip gossip, this is what you should be doing to get married before 30, this is what I want my children to act like, this is why I only do non-profit work. They both seemed nice enough, but I guess I just wanted to enjoy the lovely smell without all the chatter.
I'm off to the restaurant right now to be a nice person. And hopefully not have to talk to anyone. Hehe.

There's Only One of Me
After 2 hours of being home (not so busy at work today, sent home early) and trying to figure out a witty post, I gave up.
Since I have a cousin named James (insert my last name) and nicknamed Jamie: there is really a possibility of 15 (not including my brother) people having my first/last name combination if all those James' are nicknamed Jamie.
I think my brain just exploded.

- There are 332,128 people in the U.S. with the first name Jamie.
- Statistically the 182nd most popular first name.
- 69.86 percent of people with the first name Jamie are female.
- There are 971 people in the U.S. with your last name.

Seeing Red
B tinted my hair with red henna tonight. It's cute. The colored portions left from my April coloring extravaganza took best to it, as it's the lightest parts. The darker parts have a nice shine. Pictures to go up tomorrow or Sunday.
I'm preparing myself for ass-kicking #2 from StcyLynn tomorrow morning before my bar shift. Doesn't that sound lovely?!?!? Not really? Sigh. But I need it. And I shall take my beating like a Champ and suffer on Sunday.
Christmas shopping is hard. I've found... uhh... 2 gifts out of the 15-20 I anticipate giving. Dec 9th! That's my goal this year to be finished. And no overspending like last year. Helloooooo Amazon!

Begin Again!
I've been not so focused on the healthy intake of foods as I was in early October. Damn Halloween and those delicious rice crispy sushi that Alissa made!!!! Anyway! Today it begins again. Everything that I ingest goes into a food log. Every activity that I do goes in an activity log.
StcyLynn KICKED MY ASS today. And it was awesome and I love her for it. We spent a couple hours at corporate gym and she motivated me to run farther, push harder, and eat better. I may hurt tomorrow.
I did go get SknnyCow ic sandies last night and am glad. Because they are delicious. And only 140 calories! Wee!

Short Bullets
- Do I need to go shorter? I warned HotDan that I may be back to take off another inch or two. Whadya think?
- I've picked classes and talked to all the parents and am ready for "Get Into Nursing School, Version 3.0."
- I'm taking a CPR class the week after Thanksgiving. Who wants to give thanks for Jamie's life-saving skillz??? Woo!
- I bought an amazing pair of black jeans at AnnTylorLoft last week. On sale. That makes my lower half look sweeeeeeeeet. Anyone want to go out this weekend????
- I haven't shaved since Greece. And I kinda like it that way.
- I'm a little Nablopomo-ed out. And it's not even at the halfway point. I blame it on the awful meme. Someone save me and make me remember the joy I felt knowing November was here and I could devote time to my blog?
- I'm contemplating getting dressed, going to the store, and getting SknnyCow ic sandies. Or you know, brushing my teeth and going to bed. Choices. Hm.

Just for Fun
After the miserable meme I just put myself through*... I did find this interesting thing.

I have a feeling this is due to the hormone post and my use of the word progesterone.
*an hour looking for ANYONE who hadn't been suckered in!!! It feels all chain letter and stuff! Like something good will happen if you repost this and send it on to random people 2497 times in the next hour. But if not... you will have 60 years of bad luck! Blah blah blah!

The Random Meme
Go read this guy, since he was kind enough to make me think all hard and stuff.
Rules:
1- Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2- Share 7 random and or weird things about yourself.
3- Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
4- Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
(I am forgoing on the picking innocent victims part, see below why)
1. If I am reheating leftovers, I will never ever put the cold food in my mouth. I don't even like using the same fork if I used it to put the cold food onto a separate plate to cook- I have to wash it first, or at least rinse it with hot water.
2. I eat all the toppings off my pizza first, then the sauce, and finally the crust. People always comment on my pizza eating sequence. Is it really that weird?
3. I prefer using a dry toothbrush when I begin my teeth brushing routine. I wet it when I rinse my teeth in my final brush-through and when I rinse out the brush before it goes up in my medicine cabinet.
4. I don't mind the cold, except when I'm about to go to bed. In the winter, I use two comforters and a sheet at night and if I don't take off one of the comforters, I wake up dehydrated. That's no fun.
5. My eyes change colors. They are mostly gray with light brown around the pupils, but if someone asks me what color my eyes are, I always answer green.* If I cry, they're bright green and if the sun is in my eyes, they're blue.
6. One of my wards lives near a firehouse. Whether he is in the car or not when I drive by, I always feel the need to wail like a truck. Because I am two years old, obviously.
7. I've never really worn belts before in my life. I actually quit a job that forced me to go buy one. But now that my pants are a little loose... I have to re-examine this belt thing again.
That was hard. And since I am the last sucker to get this crap, I realize that there is no one left on the randomiser who hasn't done this or been harrassed to do it. So! Go to the randomiser now and find cool new blogs to stalk, since this is what Nablopomo is all about.
***UPDATE: pdxWoman did do this after I stalked her on the randomiser. Go read her now. Go! Go!!!*****************************************
*I think I would be tried as a witch or wolf or something if I said I had gray eyes 200 years ago.

Rivers of Chocolate
B is going to Godiva! And I am going to have an IV. A Chocolate IV. A Good Chocolate IV.
Because of this sudden, strange move, my schedule is going to become topsy-turvy in a good way. I am able to take Tues/Thurs night classes and work all day Friday for Em's moms. I may just be able to work this whole retaking 3-4 science classes thing out without tears.

Oh, The Hormones!
I don't like being off Depo. Nope. Not one bit.
I started tearing up several times while watching the movie Babe ("That'll do, pig, that'll do" - oh God, it started again!) last night. And Simon Birch (which was eh compared to A Prayer for Own Meany). And random commercials. And today's radio ad for Children's Hospital Angels (nurses). "Thank you for teaching me to save my child's life, Nurse/Angel!" Sob.
I need my extra progesterone!!!

How Not to Piss Your Sister Off
Listen and respond when you're asked to do something by people that carry you, financially.*
In lieu of rent: do dishes, feed the dog, take the trash out... even if it's once a week, you'll be helping out tremendously.**
Do your own laundry.***
Hang around and pretend that you actually share in the care of your son, even if it is just an act.****
In essence, stop being a lazy little fuck and act like a grown-up parent.
Post 11 of 30
*I still have selective hearing, but it's becoming less selective as I've found my parents have interesting things to say.
**Kinda like how your parents help you out by buying things for you, your girlfriend, and your son; namely food.
***or since someone has done yours for 24 YEARS, maybe you should help do everyone else's?
****Because I swear the next time I see you ignoring your son (or assuming that your 17 yo sister or mother will take care of him) while playing with a video game, I will break the fucking thing.

Off to See the Wizard!
Or, off to work rather. While doing no more than 10 over the speed limit, as normal.
I was pulled over by po-po last night. He said I was doing 25 over in a 35 (later he said it was a 40 after I questioned him- dude, it's my neighborhood). When I looked down at my speedometer when he pulled me over, I was doing 52 in a 40. I'm glad he gave me a written warning. I have no idea how I would have faired against a lying cop in court. Le Sigh.

Short but Sweet?
My meh day ended up ok after a nap and communing with an almost 2 year old.
I'm holding steady at 7 lbs gone after a shitty week of eating craptasic things.
I hate my sinuses, just in case you forgot.

I'm Slow
And Grumpy. This seems to be the theme this week. But I have faith that the cold will dissipate soon (from my cold, cold heart and my cold, cold feet), my dryer will be fixed, my landlord will stop being such an asshole, and I will stop working Thursdays at the bar so I don't have to look at EB and his 17 year old girlfriend. I wish I had a truly evil heart and that I had the balls to get him deported. Having him out of the country would make me feel better.
I think I am better off planning my own escape from this house.

Shopping
I gave in and spent some dough at the mall today. I went thinking I would go get a new bra or two. Instead, I was miffed by the lack of customer service I received at Macy's (I must really be giving off a 'slacker' vibe or a 'I don't need no stinking help' vibe, but at least it's not a 'I'm trying to steal something' vibe). So instead I bought a Christmas present and $50 in clothes I probably don't need. But the jeans were a size smaller*!
Off to Trader Joes with my pal, Bee, to spend more money that would be better used on upcoming Xmas expenses, travel, or a massage. Sigh. I gotta eat though, I guess.

*And just a tiny bit tight. Whimper. I guess I am a 14 1/2?

Brrrr
I see a scheduled blogger outage at 11pm pst. Whew. I almost had a heart attack until I remembered I lived on the east coast.
I had a pretty good day. I still have the plague (and probably a bit of plaque, which is what I typed first, hehe). It's gone from making me snotty to making me want to fill my sinuses with dirt. Or concrete. Just not inflamed grossness.
I hate the cold. No. I don't. I love snow. I love warm clothes. I hate having to bundle up in my room because it is the coldest room in the house. I'm going to go waste some water and electricity now and warm up before bed.

Oh! And...
She was at the movie too, since it's the first DC screening. She was lovely, btw, on and off screen.
And the movie was based on this man running away to the woods! And living in a treehouse! I wish I had a treehouse...
And, I love my volunteer job. I diced red and green peppers, cut pans of brownies, and made the beginnings of bean salad. And stayed 20 minutes past when I was supposed to because I just wanted to finish that last one... I do however SUCK at cutting baked goods (which I kinda knew already from 10 years of restaurant work), but this time it was very apparent. I want to put handwritten notes in every brownie package stating how sorry I was for giving someone else more. God, I suck. Why can't I cut baked goods in a straight line???
Ironically, the office had their 25th anniversary last weekend. Guess who wasn't invited to the festivities? Thanks Guys! I'm glad my 5 years of service meant so much to you.

Too Much Fun
Must post in 5 minutes. Ack!!!
Went to dinner and movie with my Hippie. Saw a Lithuanian Flick: You am I.
Very cool. I liked it a lot. I only wish that I could see all the flicks this month. At $9 a pop for 30 movies, uhhh: No. And I don't really have the time. But maybe one a week. That would be nice. I really like the foreign stuff more anyway.
Ate too much. Drank too much. Enjoyed myself too much. But such is life and tomorrow is another day. So what if my 7 lb loss has gone to 6 lbs. Dude. It's still 6 lbs and I'm still taking care of my body more than I was pre-Greece.
Spellcheck (yes, I know I am anti-spell check but someone might not read me bc of my poor spelling. GASP.) and I'm done at 11:59p. Word!

Surviving
I survived my long weekend. I made loads of moulah and enjoyed myself. Not much more I could ask for really.
I also hurt. Although my cold was getting better Thursday and Friday... it's coming back with a vengeance after I tried to subdue it with 'mere' cold remedies. So I'm snotty and congested and my head hurts. I think I may go get a massage in lieu of blowing my hard earned cash on clothes. My shoulders and neck feel like I've been lugging pails of water around. Yeah, massage sounds reaaal good. I wonder if they could massage the germy-germs out of my glands. Ohhhh. Ahhhh. Oh, excuse me. Didn't realize you were still here.
I'm sleepy. I can't believe that I'm headed to bed before midnight for the second night in a row. I won't ponder too long and ruin a good thing. G'Night!

Tasty Tasty Meat
I was hit on today by two military dudes. It's flattering and fun, thanks. But you kind of lose all respect when you give me barely a 15% tip and I hooked your check up (at least 2 free big beers and a free jack n coke = $15 off your check). Well. F--- You, Military cheap asses. I'd rather date roughnecks, thank you. And they don't talk about guns and shooting people which is a major bonus.
I ate lamb today and my belly doesn't hurt. This is a good thing. Since going to Greece, I think I've had bacon once, ham once, and possibly a beef based soup once. Before Greece, I went 4 months sans red meat. I feel better not eating it. I may continue this for a while longer. The lamb was tasty though- mmmmm.
I was really hoping to stay up 15 minutes more so I could post this for Sunday.... but I don't think that's going to happen. I'm exhausted. But! Tomorrow we get an extra hour. Happy Happy Joy Joy. I keep telling ya'll: It's the little things.

Must Post Before Work
I would rather go into the restaurant, hang out with my friends, then come home and take a nap. It seems that with this whole "earning money" thing and "needing to pay rent" thing, I am unable to do that.
At least I feel better this morning. And maybe I'll go shopping if there's a surplus of income this month. Ohhhh.... shopping. Cuz I've lost 7 pounds in a little less than a month and I deserve to throw a little money away.

Darn this not staying up late thing
Mmmm. Mac n cheese, mixed veggies and an apple chicken sausage. That's dinner. Not only have I contracted a cold from my wards, but I've caught their palates as well*. Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to go watch Ugly Betty (and possibly House) and dream of a weekend where I won't be working a total of 20+ hours. Wee.
Post 2 of 30. Maybe I can dig a good one up for tomorrow.
*Just kidding. Em lives for sauteed spinach, field green salad, quinoa, and indian food. He's not even two. Sigh.

Post 1.2; 2007
I can't stay awake until 2am this evening, so it seems as though there will be two posts today. Sigh.
I hung out with Kiel this evening. He walked/jogged about a mile and a half with me, and I treated him to an overpriced* italian dinner. He did try mussels, scallops, and clams in a zuppa di pesci, which impressed the HELL out of me. He also tried tiramisu, although he wasn't as impressed with it. Our service wasn't the best, and that made me sad. The times I would come into the restaurant for lunch while at the office, our same server helped us then and now. There was recognition in her eyes, but I had running clothes on... and we may have been ignored because of that. What a shame.
Interestingly enough, I waited on two (stereotypical roughnecks) guys for lunch today that surprised me with their banging tip and sincere gratitude. Which is why I try very hard not to judge, because people will genuinely surprise you sometimes if they get the chance.
*$6 for 16 oz pellegrino? really? I just checked the wholesale value: $1.12. Hm. Live and learn.
